The title of this work suggests a close friendship. The two women talk whilst one knits a sock. We see woollen Scottish shawls again, probably introduced by visiting Scottish fishermen. The one handled wicker basket is a peculiarity of Newlyn fisher folk and was often used for storing hand lines.
