Garnier came to study art in Newlyn in 1913. He dedicated himself entirely to printmaking, probably the only Newlyn artist to do so. This evocative print was one of his most popular. Two heavy horses, silhouetted against St Michaels Mount, pull a cart that is collecting sand. The sand was used by farmers as a top dressing on the land.
