Three young friends and neighbours stop for a conversation on the Newlyn to Mousehole road, above a place now known as Sandy Cove. Fishing nets are drying upon the railings. The jug would have been for fetching water. The lady on the right looks a little old to be playing with a hoop, so perhaps its inclusion in the painting was a bit of artistic licence.
