Old Newlyn Harbour

Old Newlyn harbour dates back to medieval times. Records show that the pier and walls were re-built in 1435, indicating great antiquity.  Henry Martin discovered Newlyn long before the Newlyn School Artists did. He moved there in 1870 and left to live in Saltash in 1883. He is the only artist in Newlyn listed in either the 1871 or 1881 Census.
